Through Environmental Design

Pronounced "sep-ted", is an acronym for Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. CPTED is the philosophy that design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in crime and incidence of crime, resulting in an improved quality of life.

Founded in 1999, the California CPTED Association has placed an emphasis on providing training and being a resource for CPTED practitioners. The Association is dedicated to promoting CPTED as a viable methodology to reducing and enhancing the quality of life.
